Working for Yourself

If you're working for yourself, or planning to start a new business on your own, there are many advantages, especially compared with being an employee. You now have control of your destiny and the chance to shape your business in the way you want. If you've got the drive, determination and skills, plus a fantastic business idea, then you could be doing very well for yourself.

If you think of a reasonably sized business, here are the type of roles that they may have within the organisation.

  • Book Keeping

  • Tax Specialist/Accountant

  • IT Support

  • Marketing

  • Sales

  • Administration

  • Content writer

  • Website design/administration

  • Social media management

  • Customer Liaison/Support

  • Debt collection

  • Strategy

Admitted on a different scale, those are all the roles you will need to fulfil. Put those into lists of:

1) I'm good at this role

2) I'm keen to learn and be good at this role

3) I have no idea

That will help you determine what you need to outsource and do yourself.

(We can help with websites, branding, strategy, content and marketing.)

There are some amazing online outsourcing services, we’ll write a blog about some of our favourites soon.

By the way if you are working for yourself and it’s just you do get the Company of One by Paul Jarvis, a brilliant book.
